Driving a Tesla is not just fun – it’s a lot less maintenance. But one maintenance item remains unchanged – brake fluid replacement. Even though Tesla recommends replacing brake fluid every four years, we highly recommend regular brake fluid checks. Once a year is a good idea – because brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air, so over time, the amount of water in the brake fluid increases, until it starts to impact braking distance. In severe cases (which are admittedly pretty rare), it can cause brake failure. Considering that brakes are the primary safety system of your vehicle, yearly brake fluid checks are not a high price to pay for the peace of mind.
