Welcome to Tesla service at TechZone Automotive. Gone are the days when you had to visit a Tesla owned and operated service center. As the number of Teslas increased dramatically, it became obvious that Tesla service centers would not be able to handle all that work – and Tesla would have to do what all auto makers have done – rely on independent auto repair shops to provide services for their vehicles.
At TechZone Automotive we are one of the few shops in the area that can provide your Tesla with services it requires. Some services are gone for good – no more oil change every 6 months, but there are still services your Tesla needs. Brake service is one of them – even though regenerative braking is easy on the brake pads, they do wear out eventually. When you drive a gasoline powered vehicle, you are in a shop relatively often, so mechanics get to take a look at your brakes. But driving Tesla, you need to make an effort to schedule a brake inspection to make sure the braking system is working as designed.
While talking about brakes, brake fluid replacement is a necessity for all vehicles, including Teslas. While Tesla recommends brake fluid check (and likely replacement) every 4 years, they recommend more frequent checks if your vehicle tows heavy loads or you do a lot of mountain driving. Tesla also recommends cleaning and lubricating calipers once a year or every 12,000 miles– if driving on salted roads in winter (both California and Nevada use salt on the roads during winter months).
Cabin air filter replacement is recommended every 2 years, and have a check performed once a year if you drive in very dusty or polluted environments (for example, Tesla recommends yearly replacements for vehicles used in China, which is known for extreme pollution).
All electric vehicles are tough on tires, so Tesla recommends regular tire rotation every 6250 miles, or if the tread depth difference exceeds 2/32 in. Naturally, above numbers assume normal driving patterns. If your Tesla is involved in more performance oriented driving, the time intervals between services should be shorter. Naturally, we also offer Tesla wheel alignment.
One other service that TechZone Automotive can provide for your Tesla are windshield wipers. You might scoff – windshield wipers - what’s the big deal! It turns out that it is big deal. Because Tesla autopilot cameras are located behind the windshield, so if your wipers leave streaks on the windshield, the autopilot may be confused! Being ADAS specialists, we understand interplay of seemingly simple and un-connected systems. Call TechZone Automotive for your next Tesla service.
